Demonstrating impact and efficient use of donations has become an increasingly crtical focus of most foundations and charitable organizations.  Like many nonprofit organizations, this foundation must effectively and efficiently manage itself to fulfill its mission.  Benefactors, volunteers, and other stakeholders demand the highest degree of accountability over the foundation's assets, so that the greatest level of financial support can go directly into sustaining research and other program services.  This leading research foundation underwent an operational risk assessment with a focus on their Information Technology area.  First, a review of foundation objectives and the organizational capacity was conducted to assess proper alignment between the two.  Furthermore, a review of operational processes was facilitated to identify areas of redundancy or control weakness.  Recommendations for improvement around organizational structure and operational workflow were made.
